Twila Davis Reed

Twila Davis Reed (in her own words: “And yes, [that’s] TWO last names, no hyphen. Please use them both!”), born Twila Marie Davis, passed away at the age of 55 on December 21st, 2024 in Woodbridge Virginia. She was born on June 24th, 1969 to parents Fred Davis and Rebecca Linder, she grew up in and around Chattaroy, Washington. The youngest of seven children, Twila was preceded in death by her father, Fred Davis, in 1972 and her mother, Rebecca (née Linder), in 1981. She was also predeceased by brothers, Rance and Loren, and sister Connie. She is survived by her brothers Dwayne, Rory (Harolyn), and her sister Edith (David), and her husband of 26 years - Jonathan Reed. She also leaves behind her beloved nieces and nephews (Shane, Dane, Kim, Karen, Tabitha, Rebecca, Chad, Betty Mae, Amy, Samuel, Andie, Dawn, Suzy, Alex, Alexis, Madelyn, Nicklaus, Virginia, Sybil, Lillian, and many more great-niblings).

In 1989 Twila embraced her independence, moving cross-country from Washington state to Washington DC, where she worked as a Nanny in Maryland and then later in Virginia. During this time of her life she described loving the opportunity to work with kids while exploring the DC metro region, as well as meeting her life-long BFF, Monica LeRoux. Twila spent four years nannying, while also honing her skills on the volleyball court - competing at the Semi-Pro level for both beach and court volleyball - until a back injury forced her to stop playing. While Twila had planned to return to Spokane, WA to attend college, she decided to stay on the East coast to pursue her career in photography. She briefly studied photography at Northern Virginia Community College, but really honed her craft through running labs for Ritz Camera, managing specialty studios for Lifetouch where she was awarded “Top Portrait Photographer”. Later in her career she would build her own private portraiture studio, Enchanted Light Studios, where she expertly captured many beloved photos of clients, friends, and family. While Twila had a special affinity for photography, she was a constantly creative person and enjoyed doing intricate nail art, and creating through sewing, papercraft, and sublimation, just to name a few of her self-taught talents and skills.

Twila married her “crazy, dorky, wonderful husband,” Jonathan Reed, in 1997 in Lake Ridge, Virginia, and stayed in the area for the long-haul. They created a beautiful home together in Triangle, Virginia, where they loved on many “fur-babies” over the years, hosted dozens of holidays, birthday, and family game weekends.

Twila was unforgettable from the very first moment. She loved fiercely. She lived loudly. She was hard to miss in her colorful face-jewelry combined with her love of purples, pinks, and teals. Her matching game with Jonathan was always on point. She was creative, crafty, clever, intense, thoughtful, passionate, and seriously dedicated to being the favorite aunt (and she was pretty successful at it!), an incredible cook, a wonderful host, a thoughtful friend, and so much more. She will be deeply missed by the people who knew and loved her.

All are invited to celebrate Twila’s life with her family and friends on Saturday, January 4th beginning at 2 pm for the visitation and 4 pm for the funeral service. The services will be held at Pierce Funeral Home, located at 9609 Center St, Manassas, VA 20110.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the National Kidney Foundation in honor of Twila’s multi-year challenges with her kidneys.
