Joseph Alaniz, Sr.

Joseph John Alaniz, Sr, passed away on January 18, 2023. He was born October 6, 1956 in Chicago, IL to Salvador Sr. and Thomasa “Tiny” Alaniz. A recent resident of the San Francisco Bay Area, he also previously resided in West Chicago, IL; Mt. Pleasant, IA; and Colorado Springs, CO.

 

He is survived by his former wife Ginny Alaniz and their children Joe Jr (Carrie), Matthew (Shayne), Amy (David), and Patrick (Suzanne) as well as grandchildren Ryder, Joaquin, Tosh, Lucas, Reuben and Olivia. He is also survived by siblings Sal (Rosalee) Alaniz Jr., Rich (Betsy) Alaniz, Theresa (Mike) Morgan, and Mike Alaniz along with numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. 

 

Joe graduated from West Chicago High School and Rochester Institute of Technology and spent his career in the printing and direct mailing industries. Along with his father, Sal, he built the company Alaniz & Sons, Inc in Mt.Pleasant, IA, and later founded Charis Communications in Colorado Springs. In addition to his work, he enjoyed ministry and his faith, reading, traveling, the Chicago Bears and visiting with his children and grandchildren.
