Honoring Jay

Honoring Jay
Jay Conaty was my Dad, and he passed away on February 13, 2022 at the age of 70. As an only child, I counted on him to wear multiple hats throughout my life. He was a great Dad but he was also the best friend and mentor I could ever have. I feel extremely fortunate that my Dad lived a full life and experienced so many wonderful moments and milestones of our family. This was not a foregone conclusion.

When I was a year old, my Dad was diagnosed with a hereditary kidney disease that had also claimed the life of his father when my Dad was 11 years old. As his sickness progressed, he feared he wouldn’t live to see me grow up. Fortunately, he had a kidney transplant in 1987 that saved his life and gave us 35 more years! During that time he never missed a sporting event, theatre production, parents weekend or graduation. He got to know my beautiful wife, Holly, and give an unforgettable toast at our wedding. He was also able to hold both of his grandsons and enjoy more than a decade of retirement with my Mom in Hilton Head, SC.

I started this page in my Dad's honor. The journey for someone diagnosed with kidney disease is long and difficult. NKF’s work helps make the journey a little easier those living with kidney disease, as well as those who care for and about them.

Over the past two decades, the face of kidney disease has been rapidly evolving. Landmark developments in nephrology have created new approaches to treatment, and groundbreaking information regarding prevention has altered the world’s understanding of the disease. NKF is leading the way in fighting this disease, leveraging their knowledge and experience to focus on building awareness, increasing prevention, and improving treatment of kidney disease.

Your donation will honor my Dad's journey with kidney disease and spread hope for the future. It will also help raise vital awareness to people at risk for kidney disease, so they may have the same opportunity as my Dad to live a full life.

Every donation is meaningful to my family. I would be grateful for your support to help fight kidney disease.

Thank you!
